...From Leigh

    image001

We have a very smart raccoon living in our garage.  It took us awhile to figure out that the cat wasn't eating two or three times as much as before and making a huge mess.  We have a magnetic cat door that is operated by a magnet on the cats collar, so we thought there was no way for anything else to get in.  The raccoon figured out how to pull the door open with his claws. Then, he pooped all over the garage, rinsed his muddy paws in the cats water dish and left claw prints all over both of our cars.

We got a trap from animal control.  The first night we caught the cat.  She was not happy with us at all, but she learned.  The next night even with tuna in the trap, she avoided it.  We left the garage door cracked.  Brad, my 10 year old son, said we shouldn't do that because then the raccoon would know it was a trap.  Apparently, he was right, because we have not caught him yet.  He may have moved on. (We can only hope).   We had the trap for one week.  If he comes back, we will borrow it again, so if you have any advice on how to catch a raccoon, I would appreciate it.

                                                 Sincerely

                        Leigh
